This policy explains what personal data Econ Hub UK collects, why, and how it is used. We are committed to protecting your privacy in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who controls your data
Econ Hub UK is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. You can contact us at [email protected].
2. What data we collect
We collect only the data you provide or that is generated by your use of the site:
- Account data – your name, email address, and (if using email/password sign-in) a securely hashed password. If you sign in via Google, we receive your name and email from Google; your password is never stored by us.
- Subscription and payment data – your subscription tier and a Stripe customer identifier. We do not store card numbers or payment details; these are handled entirely by Stripe.
- Behaviour data – pages you visit, links and elements you click, and login attempt records. This is recorded internally for analytical purposes to understand how students use the site and to improve it.
We do not collect any special category data (such as health information, ethnicity, or political views).

4. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We use the following third-party services to operate EconHub. Where these services receive your data, they do so as data processors acting on our instructions, or as independent controllers under their own privacy policies:
- Stripe – processes subscription payments. Stripe acts as an independent data controller for payment data. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Google (Sign in with Google) – if you choose to sign in with Google, Google processes your authentication under its own terms and privacy policy. See Google's privacy policy.
We may disclose your data if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request.
5. Data storage and security
Your data is stored on servers located within the United Kingdom. We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, including password hashing, encrypted connections (HTTPS), server-side sessions, and rate limiting on login attempts.
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we take all reasonable steps to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Behaviour logs (page views, click events) are retained for analytical purposes and reviewed periodically. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
7. Cookies
EconHub uses a single session cookie to keep you logged in during your visit. This cookie is strictly necessary for the site to function and does not track you across other websites. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are used.
8. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access – request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Right to rectification – ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Right to erasure – ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances
- Right to restriction – ask us to limit how we use your data
- Right to object – object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Right to data portability – receive your data in a portable format

9. Children
EconHub is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you by email.
